All our residents are accommodated in protective workshops on the premises and they all receive weekly stipends for their contribution towards these workshops. As part of our program to teach them financial responsibility, we used to take them to Village Square Shopping Mall every alternative Saturday where they could spend their well-earned money.
Alterations at reasonable prices to an assortment of garments, clothes, curtains etc.
The restoration of any and all furniture, building of kitchen units, clothing cabinets and various wooden toys are done in this workshop.
A relatively new addition to our workshops. It was primarily initiated to provide training for our residents and to meet our own needs. We are however currently selling bread, buns, biscuits, cakes etc. to outside consumers. We would like to expand this workshop and new customers are therefore more than welcome.
Here we are doing the packaging of pins for Q Bond. This is a self-sustaining, income generating workshop and we will appreciate it if other businesses could consider providing our residents with simple, repetitive work at reasonable rates.
Participation in these activities enhances the dignity, self-esteem, self-belief, quality of life of our residents and it turns the Connie Mulder Centre into a safe, secure haven for disabled adults.
